NOTE: I do not know how useful
the attached "Outline Notes" will be to you. These are basically hierarchical
lists of topics and themes that I put together as something for me to look
over and refresh my memory before I have to jump into the breach and lecture,
and they mostly have to do with intellectual history and its relation to
various modern revolutions or revolutionary movements. Nevertheless, students
have asked me for copies of these Outline Notes several times over the
years, and it seems to me that posting them here is the best way to make
them available to folks. Although they are not substitutes for reading
the texts and taking your own lecture notes, they can be worthwhile
if you use them to
supplement your normal studies. At the very least
they offer you some insight on the sort of topics and themes that I will
emphasize in class and on the exams.
