1. Read the question carefully. Be certain that your answer provides the exact information required.

2. Organize your thoughts before writing. Jot down the major points you wish to emphasize in a corner of the exam sheet so that you can refer to them quickly.

3. Be short and precise in making your points. Make sure that you get what you think onto the paper. It doesn't do any good to say, "Well, I meant ..."

4. Re-read your essay before turning it in, and make sure that it accurately represents your considered opinion on the topic in question.
