Erik D. Demaine
Professor Demaine
is a faculty member in the Department of
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a member
of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology.
Professor Demaine graduated from Dalhousie University in Canada
at the age of 14. For his
graduate studies, he attended the University of Waterloo in Canada and graduated
with a Ph.D. in 2001 at the age of 21. In 2003, he received
the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada doctoral
prize as well as a $500,000 research award as a
MacArthur Fellow.
He is interested in most areas of computer science and mathematics.
His current research interests include computational geometry,
graph algorithms, adaptive algorithms, string matching, static and dynamic
data structures, bioinformatics, and combinatorial game theory.
Professor Demaine has about 100 journal and conference proceedings publications.
