Seminars of interest in South-East Michigan

Teaching

Fall 08 - PHY 371: Modern Physics

Winter 08 - PHY 610: Topics in Mathematical Biology and Medical Physics

Research Interests

Nonlinear dynamics and statistical physics far from equilibrium, with a focus on biological physics:
  • Modeling of collective behavior in biological systems
(growth of malignant brain tumors, wound healing)
  • Statistical physics far from equilibrium
  • Pattern formation and nonlinear dynamics
  • Driven granular gases, instabilities in granular flows

Biographical sketch

Born in Moscow, I graduated from the famous 444th Mathematical High School. After immigration to Israel, I received B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, working with Baruch Meerson. In 2004 - 2007, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Michigan Center for Theoretical Physics, working with Leonard Sander. In August 2007, I joined the Department of Physics at Oakland University. I am married and have two great children.
